In October, 1915, the Rev. W.J. Voeltz was installed. It was immediately apparent to him that English services would have to be started without delay. The congregation was suffering serious losses year after year because of its failure to meet the requirements of the younger generation which preferred the English language. Furthermore, mission opportunities were severely restricted as long as services were restricted to those conversant with the German.
