PAROCHIAL SCHOOL ENDS 1919

In 1919 the parochial school was discontinued because of the small attendance and the unwillingness of the congregation to engage a parochial school teacher. At that time the congregation consisted of 246 communicants, 366 souls. It was apparent that the congregation could no longer ask its Pastor to give the growing congregation the attention it needed and conduct the parochial school besides. It seems the use and preservation of the German language was, in the eyes of our spiritual fathers, at least equal in importance to religious instruction.
