INTERESTING NOTESIt was resolved July 8, 1923 to lay a concrete driveway between the church and the parsonage and surrender to the horseless carriage. A sad story is told in the words: "hitching posts to be removed from tenth street." After 50 years of selecting a chairman to direct the voters at each meeting, it was finally determined in 1925 to choose a chairman annually. Three years later the church year was changed from the June to June plan (in effect from the time of organization) to the calendar year. The 25th anniversary of the brick church was celebrated November 24, 1929, but we have no information about it. In 1933 the 25/75 plan for dividing the current expense offerings was adopted: 25% for Synod and 75% for the local congregation. This was generously changed in 1955 to 10% for charities, 35% for Missions, and 55% for local needs. This plan is still in effect. On September 22, 1937 the congregation wisely created the Building Fund. |
