PARSONAGE BUILT 1877Since the first and most important volume of congregational minutes (1875 through July 1883) was wantonly destroyed many years ago and its precious data never replaced in any form, there are gaps in the early history no one will ever be able to fill. One of these is the cost of the parsonage. We do know, however, that the building was completed by the fall of 1877, that it faced west, just like it does today, and that they "first built the parsonage to save rent." As late as 1892, this house was rented for $8.00 per month during a vacancy. While several additions have been made, the original building still constitutes the major portion of the parsonage. |
