PASTOR ROLAND HISCHKE, former Walnut Pastor, who served so many of out shut-ins during our vacancies, passed away last week.  Our condolences go to his family.  Please keep them in your prayers.

 

 

MESSIAH MEMBERS ARE CORDIALLY INVITED TO ATTEND the 50th Wedding Anniversary of Bill and Audrey Behrens to be held Saturday, August 6th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Cedar Ridge Shelter at Rockwood State Park in Morrison.  Please omit gifts.

 

 

LAST CHANCE TO SIGN UP FOR THE MESSIAH YOUTH WEEKEND RETREAT at Six Flags Great America is August 20-21; this event if for both BIG W & MYL.  Join together with other area church groups for a weekend of fun, amusement, and worship.  The cost is $25 ($35 for guests).  Registration forms are available in the youth room or outside of Andrew’s office.  Forms and money are due NO LATER THAN JULY 31 – NO EXCEPTIONS.

 

JOIN US FOR “PANDAMANIA” SUMMER SUNDAY SCHOOL!  Summer Sunday School is for all children age 3 – 5th grade (just completed).  We will begin each Sunday at 10:30 AM in the Sanctuary, rotate through different fun and learning sites, and end at 11:30 AM.  Our offerings will be collected for Operation Kid-To-Kid to help provide Spanish Bible to children in Latin America.
           

RADIO SPONSORS NEEDED!  We are currently in need of sponsors for the Sundays in August & September.  The cost is $200 per week.  It can be one family or several families together.  It can be a thank offering, in memory of someone, or in celebration.  Just mark RADIO on your envelope.  If it is for something special, or for a particular date, please include a note.  Your support of this mission project is greatly appreciated.

SEEING STARS AUDITIONS are being held TODAY, July 31, 2011 at Centennial auditorium- Sterling High School from 3:00 -5:00 PM.  This is a variety show featuring local talent of all ages presented by Lutheran Social Services of IL.  This year’s theme is “The Fabulous 50’s”.  Please see bulletin boards for further information or call Heather Hartzell at (815) 973-4792.

 

 

MYL PLANNING LUNCH will be Sunday, August 7th at 11:30 AM.  Come help us plan events for the youth group this year!  Pizza will be served, so at least come for a free lunch!

 

 

RALLY DAY IS AUGUST 28:  This marks the beginning of our new Sunday morning Education Year!  We are looking to fill Sunday School Teacher Openings – please consider serving God by sharing the Gospel in Sunday School!
