Concordia Publishing House![]() THE SEAL OF CONCORDIA PUBLISHING HOUSE relates everything to the present. The globe indicates that the world is our field; the torch emanating from the open Bible indicates that the Gospel is the light of the world; the inscription is 1 Peter 1,25, a favorite of Dr. Martin Luther. Since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God; for “All flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls, but the word of the Lord remains forever.” And this word is the good news that was preached to you. (1 Peter 1:23-25, ESV). As Jesus was saying these things, a woman in the crowd called out, “Blessed is the mother who gave you birth and nursed you.” He replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.” (Luke 11:27-28, NIV). No one could see anyone else or leave his place for three days. Yet all the Israelites had light in the places where they lived. (Exodus 10:23, NIV). And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead them along the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, that they might travel by day and by night. The pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night did not depart from before the people. (Exodus 13:21-22, ESV). The field is the world, the good seeds are the sons of the kingdom, but the tares are the sons of the wicked one. The enemy who sowed them is the devil, the harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are the angels. (Matthew 13:38-39, NKJV). |
