Jesus, the Good Shepherd

THE GOOD SHEPHERD picture is based on the Lord's words in John 10,11: "I am the Good Shepherd." In all the earlier Christian examples He is shown as a beardless Youth, clad in a tunic, carrying a lamb over His shoulder in true oriental fashion. He wears the three-rayed nimbus, indicating His divinity. He is identified by the I H C and the Chi Rho.
